Lead Boiler Service Technician
Lead field service on commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and boiler plant equipment across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. You will evaluate systems, run combustion set-up and analysis, commission DDC controls, and mentor other service techs. Ten plus years in the boiler industry preferred.
Responsibilities
- Use your mechanical abilities to evaluate, troubleshoot, and perform repairs and preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and boiler plant equipment across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
- Perform combustion set-up and analysis, and troubleshoot a full range of burners from .5 to 30,000 MBH input on various fuels and low emissions requirements.
- Perform hydrostatic testing of boilers.
- Troubleshoot, install, start up, commission, diagnose, calibrate, maintain, and repair DDC control systems including Siemens, Johnson Controls, Autoflame, Fireye, Nexus, and Cleaver-Brooks Hawk.
- Start up, program, upgrade, and troubleshoot VFDs including Eaton, ABB, Yokogawa, Danfoss, and Rockwell.
- Provide assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other boiler service techs.
- Perform and complete tasks with little supervision.
- Minimum 10 years experience in the boiler industry is preferred.
Requirements
- An active understanding of all types of hot water and steam boiler support equipment, including deaerators, feed systems, blow down systems, economizers, pumps, waste heat recovery equipment, and other pressure vessels.
- Knowledge of electronics, direct digital control (DDC) theory, airflow, hydronics, heat transfer theory, pH sensors, flow meters, electrical meters, and system control techniques.
- Ability to write clear, concise service reports noting work performed and recommended repairs.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Superior planning and organizing skills.
- Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- With a large service territory, a company service van will be provided. Overnight travel may be required.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights without fear.
- Valid driver’s license with clear record.
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment background check and initial and subsequent random drug screening.
