Boiler Service Technician Apprentice
Start your career in the boiler room learning from experienced technicians. You will assist with evaluating boiler room systems, combustion set-up, hydrostatic testing, and preventive maintenance while building hands-on skills. Mechanical aptitude required. We will train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Use your mechanical abilities to assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and boiler plant equipment across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
- Assist in evaluating boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gathering information, and troubleshooting problems. Develop an active understanding of all types of hot water and steam boiler support equipment, including deaerators, feed systems, blow down systems, economizers, waste heat recovery equipment, and other pressure vessels.
- Assist with combustion set-up and analysis, and troubleshooting on a full range of burners from .5 to 30,000 MBH input on various fuels and low emissions requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting, programming, and adjusting linkage and linkageless combustion control systems.
- Assist with repair or replacement of refractory, gaskets, parts, and miscellaneous controls.
- Assist with hydrostatic testing of boilers.
- Assist with boiler and pressure vessel preventive maintenance.
- Experience in stick, MIG, and TIG welding and oxy cutting is a plus.
- Willing to train the right candidate with mechanical aptitude.
Requirements
- Write clear and concise service reports noting work performed.
- Consistent ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs, roll out tubing, and push or pull heavy materials with mobile equipment.
- With a large service territory, a company service van will be provided.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights without fear.
- Valid driver’s license with clear record.
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment background check and initial and subsequent random drug screening.
