Boiler Repair Technician Apprentice

Learn boiler and pressure vessel repair alongside our lead technicians. You will assist with field repairs, tube and section replacement, refractory and gasket work, and hydrostatic testing while developing your welding and fabrication skills. Boiler industry experience is a plus, not a requirement. We will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and boiler plant equipment across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
  • Assist with repair of boilers and tanks in the field by unbolting or flame cutting defective sections or tubes, installing new tubes, fitting and welding new sections, and replacing worn lugs or bolts.
  • Assist the lead boilermaker with all work activities, including staging of materials and layout and measurement.
  • Assist with internal and external inspections of boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist with repair or replacement of refractory, gaskets, and other parts.
  • Assist with hydrostatic testing of boilers.
  • Assist with evaluation and troubleshooting of boiler room systems, and learn all types of hot water and steam boiler support equipment, including deaerators, feed systems, blow down systems, and economizers.
  • Experience in stick, MIG, and TIG welding and oxy cutting is a plus.

Requirements

  • Consistent ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 lbs, roll out tubing, and push or pull heavy materials with mobile equipment.
  • With a large service territory, a company service van will be provided. Overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights without fear.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear record.
  • Applicants must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Experience in the boiler industry is preferred but not required. We will train the right candidate.
