Boiler Controls Service Technician

Bring your mechanical and electrical skills to DDC controls for commercial and industrial boilers and boiler plant equipment. You will install, commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot systems from Siemens, Johnson Controls, Autoflame, Fireye, and Cleaver-Brooks, and help train the service team. Ten plus years with boiler, burner, and mechanical control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use your mechanical and electrical abilities to troubleshoot DDC control systems for commercial and industrial boilers, burners, and boiler plant equipment across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
  • Handle installation, initial start-up, commissioning, diagnosis, calibration, maintenance, and repair of DDC control systems including Siemens, Johnson Controls, Autoflame, Fireye, Nexus, and Cleaver-Brooks Hawk.
  • Ensure systems operate automatically within specified parameters (temperature, humidity, static pressure, amps).
  • Work with the Controls Engineer and customer site personnel to keep all control systems operating according to the basis of design.
  • Handle pre-start-up, modification, upgrade, and troubleshooting of VFDs including Eaton, ABB, Yokogawa, Danfoss, and Rockwell.
  • Support DDC controls training and development of boiler service technicians.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics, direct digital control (DDC) theory, airflow, hydronics, heat transfer theory, pH sensors, flow meters, electrical meters, and system control techniques.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and complete service reports describing work performed and any recommended repairs.
  • Ability to test and write modifications in multiple systems software languages.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, technical documents, and schematic design specifications.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical for design purposes is a plus.
  • Provide assistance and mentoring to boiler service techs.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
  • May be required to obtain certain government clearances for specific projects.
  • Applicants must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Minimum 10 years experience with boiler, burner, and mechanical control systems is preferred.
